Alright, alright as stated by Merriam-Webster….

    muskellunge

    Main Entry: mus·kel·lunge
    Pronunciation: ‘m&s-k&-“l&nj
    Function: noun
    Inflected Form(s): plural muskellunge
Etymology: alteration of Canadian French maskinongé, from Ojibwa ma.skino.se.
: a large North American pike (Esox masquinongy) that has dark markings, may weigh over 60 pounds (27 kilograms), and is a valuable sport fish
So a Musky, Muskie, Muskellunge IS a pike, if that makes you feel better

You got to love the pike. They will eat anything and put up a good scrap. Even the 3 to 8 lbs are fun on lighter rods and reels. They are a good fish to get the kids hooked on toothy fish. There is no better smell then the slam of a pike.
