Got out the last 2 days searching safe ice and got to ice my first walleye of the season on a small lake with 3″ of ice. After the temps last night, there should be a half dozen lakes with good ice now. Minnows are hard to come by in Ely right now, so if you are planning your way up here stop and get bait on the way! Be extremely careful out there guys, there are a lot of lakes that started icing over last night that will NOT BE SAFE.
