Got into a mess of bowfin on a certain P2 tributary. I’ve not had a whole lot of experience catching these prehistoric fish, are they usually this green?

IMO, they are some of the coolest fish in the Midwest. Night time fishing with a lighted bobber, glob of crawlers, a beach fire and a case of beer is the best way to catch these bad boys. There are tons of them right off my dads beach in Southern MN, they are loads of fun.

They change colors when they spawn, which is late spring. Very unique fish.

June 9, 2017 at 7:03 am #1698298Try smoking them. You’ll appreciate them even more!
I can never keep them lit.
