Yup, this is the buck. I confirmed this with my cousin who viewed it at the showing and met the kid.

December 12, 2003 at 7:53 pm #1946Well, after seeing over on iowawhitetail that someone posted a thread about the article and how it portrayed the hunt, I had to go home and crack it open to see what it said. When I first heard that a 15 year old had shot the new world’s record during the youth season, I thought to myself, “What could have been better for our sport, this is great news!”
After reading the article, I’m left shaking my head. The story reads like an episode of the Sapranos with more lies, deceipt, and backstabbing than I care to deal with in a hunting magazine.
People who know the family say that they’re top-notch, and the thread was locked down and moved to a separate area where it’s not publicly accessible. I honestly hope that it was the article that was at fault, and the true story is much better. The truth is that after reading it, I thought, “PETA president Ingrid Newkirk couldn’t have been more damaging to deer hunting.”
