I’ve looked at this photo over and over again and I can’t figure it out!
If any of you have any input/guesses as to what’s going on here please reply!
    Thank you in advance!

Frozen off ear?? I don’t know about my guess, but it’s to me this is just another reason to leave our trail cameras out year round!

    Could ear mites do this?

Good question! Could it be a wound from fighting? Do you know if this is a buck from possibly looking at another picture?

I think the deer has its head pointed up and the ear is pinched back along its head. the ear is not flared out like normal it is just slicked back.

I think the ear is frozen off. And that dark brown thing is a grouse flying past right at the time of the photo.

Looks like it ia a rip in the ear and flap is rolled forward

If I had a more detailed photo of the deer I might be able to match him/her…unfortunately, I don’t have any other “goofy” photos like this!

However, I haven’t checked my cameras since I got this pic – I’m excited to now!

I think it is damage from a fight with the dangerous hose cat! They are mean as hell!!
