My girlfriend will be bow hunting for the first time this year. She is shooting a menace and is pulling about 40-45lbs. Any suggestions on what the best broadhead for a slower lighter arrow would be? I shoot rage and love the results…

I think you would like the two blade Rage heads. Check out this report Rage 2 Blade
I’m pretty sure Stacie used the two blade broadhead.
August 17, 2010 at 5:31 pm #85508I shoot an ancient and slow PSE bow with the Rage 2 blades. They work great!
August 17, 2010 at 5:35 pm #85509this is an easy sell since you shoot ragers. get her the rage 40ke’s.. work just like your 2blades, but are designed to open with less pressure.

or
Magnus Stingers
BOTH IN 125G
that way she has a arrow with more FOC mass
for a greater chance of a pass through
two holes are better than one
I shoot a Browning 42# Micro Adrenalin 263fps
Gold Tip 35/55 27.5″ arrows
muzzy 125g phantoms
and get pass throughs out to 45yds on quartering shots
have not lost one yet GREAT blood trails
good luckAugust 18, 2010 at 2:34 pm #85562Quote:

Last Year she used the Rage 40 KE 2 Blade! With the results we saw, she is shooting them again this year! She pulls 48 lbs on the DXT
August 18, 2010 at 10:18 pm #85610Draw length(DL) also has a great impact on your decision…
Bows being equal poundage… a 28″ DL has considerably more energy than a 25″ DL (longer draw cycle transfers more energy to the arrow)
Pass thrus are not common with even Rage 40s if your KE is under 40(KE)
Take her to the Pro Shop, get a chrono speed, weigh the arrow and go to the Rage website. They have a KE dropdown that will tell you whether you can shoot a Rage 40 or go to a smaller diameter cut on contact head like a Razor Trick.
No one likes to lose an animal…
