Ok, so I went out tonight around 3:45 and set up my Renzo decoy about 25 yards from my stand with plans to rattle. I rattled a few sets early with no response and decided to hold off for awhile.

At around 6:15 I rattled very agressive and within a minute a decent eight point comes into the field heading from right to left I decide he is to small and then comes out another buck, I knew he was a shooter.

They walked to the end of the field 125 yards away on the fence line straight out from me, they both hopped the fence and I hit the grunt tube three times. The smaller one trotted off down the hill and the bigger one found a tree to rub and then to my suprise he made a scrape and peed in it. He started to walk down the hill also and I gave the rattle bag a quick shutter and seconds later he came back up. He entered the woods to my laft and he was going to come in from behind me. It was loosing light fast so something had to happen…and it did he came out directly under my tree with his head lowered trotting at the decoy I drew and my only shot was his spine and I let the arrow fly. Connection, he got up on his hinnd legs and fell over sideways, I did have to get down and put one in the lungs too.

He is 16 inches wide, has 10 points, and a unique hole in his antler. This is my PB buck and the best part is my son Gabe was walking back to my stand and heard everything happen. Enjoy the pics and good luck to everyone else.

Congrats Loco! Great job on using all of the tools that are available (decoy, grunt tube, rattling bag). It sounds like it certainly made the difference in your successful hunt. I’ve noticed lately that a lot more bucks have that hole under on their main beam underneath their G3. A buddy of mine killed a buck last year that had both sides like that.
