I watched that video yesterday. That is one bad fish. Couldn’t even imagine.
Was he a ido member at one time ?

I’m not 100% sure. I know he was a prominent voice on another now extinct site years back
He’s poked his head in occasionally.
Edit* And as I say that I notice his profile has been locked/banned….
Good grief. I once had a largemouth that barely fit up an 8″ hole……. anyone have a way to estimate the age of that thing?
The article said it could be 70 years old. I’m not sure where they come up with that number. i wonder how old they get? I was told they can live into the hundreds.
Females can live to 150 at least that’s what’s on record.
(side bar: Most larger lake sturgeon are females)
The age and weight of that fish are both estimates by using charts the dnr has from their aging and measurement work.
You won’t see Darren or any other “sturgeon fisherman” lifting them up on a scale more so since it’s (mostly) a catch and release fishery.

As it Should Be

X2 Wow, what a fish!

Even that seems to be understated as it was front page news on this morning’s Strib. (Yes, I still get the print version every morning)
I did hear of this epic catch before this morning via many fishing related sources, but was rather surprised to see it on the front page!
Oh…wonder if Dtro even follows this forum anymore?
