It was good talking to you Sat. night when we stopped to get some bullies. We missed the storms and although the flats didn’t make an appearance we caught sturgeon of 40″ 50″ and here is my brother (initials also BK) with this 55″.

    Welcome to IDO!

    What a great first post!!

Love those incidental catches! Did you catch any channels or shovelnose?

…and don’t tell me that critter bit on a bullhead!

No shovelnose, a few channels but nothing huge. Yep the sturgeon slammed an almost 7″ bully, almost pulled the rod into the drink… or not, ok just the standard crawler on a hook. Definetly a fun surprise!

    Awesome fish, welcome to IDO

Just don’t get a first impression of this place from BrianK. There are a few of us that don’t smell like cut bait around here

Did you smash the bullhead head with your hand?

    Not in this forum.

There’s folks that fish there a lot and never landed a 50 in fish.

Is it just me or do those fish make our Rainy trip seem like it’s a LONG way til spring. It’s great to see the Mississippi kicking out such quality “accidental” fish!! Someday we’ll be able to target them down here.

Sounds like a plan. It will be nice to use my sturgeon rod more than once a year.
