Brian K and Hanson, gave me another idea for a thread.

Lets open this up to all the “Wanna Bee’s….20-30-40-50-60lb Flathead thread.”

This is for all us wanna bee’s that have come sooooo close and just missed it. (I am included in this group also) This one should net up all those almost’s made the mark…..And give us our moment on the “WALL OF FAME”…. (or is that SHAME)

one rule….. it has to be an almost…… Don’t be bashful about stretching it.

Why do I bother with these fish? For cripes sake, I qualify for the 20# wannabe club.

There is no such thing as a small flathead. They are all big and beautiful.

    Picture 1: 46 lbs, St Croix, 22 August 2002

    Picture 2: 47 lbs, St Croix, 1 June 2008

    Picture 3: 35 lbs, St Croix, 13 August 2008

    Picture 4: 31 lbs, Pool 3, 10 August 2005

WOW – that is a big fish. I looked at the Flathead Weight Conversion Table and the maximum fish on the chart is a 50″ X 36″ Flathead which would be 70.6 lbs. I’m not that good at fish math but If those measurements are correct that fish would be pushing 87 lbs – give or take.

Dang I can’t get in this.
No flats on the upper croix.
Willing to trade a channel cat trip for a flat trip.
I need to hook into one of those bad boys this year.
    Any takers?

Dave this is the Wanna Be Catfish Club…. Any one with any fish with any weight can join…. If you have a channel pic and you “WANNA” have it be a Flathead…… Go for it.

Gosh knows there are enough of us out here that think our fish should “Almost” weigh 20-30-40-50-60lbs.

Had she not thrown up the 1/2# walleye, she’d have been 20.

Another flathead that just missed the 20 mark. They sure look funny in the fall. And no, I am never getting rid of my ratty Seahawks wind breaker or my delusions of grandeur.

Excellent point….. Captains of the boat can claim 15% credit on any of the big fish caught
