I caught a tagged sturgeon over the weekend and received a report from the DNR this afternoon. Here’s the data:
Originally tagged 4/17/2004 in Four Mile Bay at 28.1″
Caught 5/1/2004 in Four Mile Bay, not measured
Caught 4/21/2007 in Rainy River (mile 15) at 32.5″
Nothing too exciting, but neat, nontheless!
Wow….4 inches in 3 yrs…I can only imagine how old some of these 50-60 inch fish really are….great information!! 
Not too exciting? You have no idea how boring my life is. That just made my day. Seriously, I think it’s pretty cool when people post info about tagged fish on here. I am sure the info is invaluable to the DNR as well.

Here’s some age data from DNR surveys of LOTW/Rainy River.
30″ – 8 years
35″ – 10 years
40″ – 14 years
45″ – 17 years
50″ – 23 years
55″ – 28 years
60″ – 32 years
65″ – 37 years
70″ – 42 years
We ran across some DNR biologists performing aging and disease studies while we were there and gave them some of our fish.
Thats some cool info. Looks like most of our fish were your age Ryan! I wish we could have caught some closer to Joe’s age 
We caught at least 4 tagged that I can remember, in all the excitement we never even really thought much of them, or even wrote down any numbers. Next time we will for sure though, the DNR tags them for a reason, valuable for management purposes. We were always in a hurry to not keep the fish out of the water too long, and wanted to get our lines back in the water.
I had number 81185…Originally tagged 04/17/2004 on Four Mile Bay. Length at tagging 32.9 inches. Then it just has what I reported… Caught 04/22/2007 on the Rainy River with a length of 39 inches. Six inches in 3 years

Wow, they must of tagged a bunch of them in ’04!
