    I bought this kit:
    http://www.cabelas.com/product/home-cabin/outdoor-cooking/fryers-cookers-accessories|/pc/104798880/c/104754780/sc/104276880/cabela-s-multi-cooker-kit/1674171.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffryers-cookers-accessories%2F_%2FN-1101317%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104276880

I like it except for the burner. It has a stupid timer safety feature which I can live with but the dang thing simply doesn’t get hot enough. I’m trying to boil down my maple sap to make syrup and it wont bring it to a boil. Does anyone else have this kit? How hot does yours get?

Do you have the regulator turned up? You should be able to reach the heat of the sun with this. This has a variable regulator. Turning the red dial on the regulator should give you monster heat.

Also be sure the wind isn’t blowing the heat off your flame. Block the open space with tin foil or something to keep the wind off if using outdoors.

BTW, I couldn’t open your link so my response may not apply to that type of cooker if it doesn’t have a open flame.

    Try this link

Also make sure the air mixer is adjusted properly (the big round thing with the slots the gas hose goes into near the burner)

Yeah I have tried all that guys. Adjusted the air flow, cranked both valves. Doubt the thing would boil water. I have a call into Cabelas customer service, interested to hear what they say. Here’s the kicker, you can unscrew the safety feature but then the hose is the wrong size fitting for the regulator.

If that’s the case, it just sounds like a defective regulator.

you have the valve to the burner turned off before you open the valve on the tank right? If not, the OPD could be causing you to not get the flow of gas you would need.

Update: It was actually a bad tank. I tried it with another partial full tank and everything worked as it should. Taking the tank back today. I didn’t even think of this as a possibility that a 100% full tank would be bad.
