Is the 3rd one down a brook trout or just a dark rainbow ?

Another rainbow.
They do take many different shades, which can be any time if the year just as your bag shows.Sure is a nice change to get a fish that fights as hard as trout when ice fishing.
February 6, 2021 at 4:51 pm #2012733Thanks ! We’ve got a few this year that are so much darker than others. Wasn’t sure if maybe we got a brook in the mix. They are so damn fun to catch. It just seemed fatter and a bit shorter than the rest.

February 8, 2021 at 12:13 pm #2013275A super quick way to tell is whether or not the fish has black spots. Fish in the char family don’t have them (includes brook trout).
