Just wondering if anyone has been out on Pelican or North long this year. Have a cabin in the area. Just checking if the ice is reasonable yet before I drive all the way up there. Thanks

Dad was out on the Whitefish Chain (Little Pine, Daeget) with an ATV last weekend. If that helps…
December 15, 2017 at 8:16 am #1735833The small protected lakes in the area have about 8 inches of ice. The large lakes in the area have just closed up. The high winds had kept them open for a long time.
I have not seen anyone out on Crosslake or Big Trout, which I drive by regularly. They have only been completely covered for about a week.
I would be careful, but you may have walkable ice by Christmas on the larger lakes. My neighbor has been driving his Polaris with tracks all over the lake (under 200 acres) in front of my house.
