Opener at Bowstring

The opener at the Cow point duck shack is over and once again we experienced the worst weather of the year. The fishing wasn’t all bad and the weather was better than last year. My boat caught a total of 22 walleyes for the day and a half. The key for my success was to be in the deep water outside of the crowd of boats. We started in 6 fow early then i moved to a spot I caught fish in last year outside of the crowd. We caught a dozen in 3 hrs. I went to talk to my brother-in-law and found out he had caught nothing. So I showed him my spot and he was there for 10 min and had the winner in the boat. Typical. So he went home with the cup and a boatload of money. That was the only fish he caught all weekend. We also tried the north end humps thanks to Sean Colter. We pick up 5 fish there during the dead time of the afternoon. We used jigs and shiners primarily with one caught with a leech rigging.
