im partial to labs myself. Ive also had a black and a white Shepard and they are amazing dogs. My wife is Korean. In Korea they have a dog called a Jindo. We are going to try to get one of those. They look like a cross between a Shepard and a huskie. Supposed to be incredibly loyal and intelligent dogs as well as great hunting dogs.

The L.A. police department brought them to the states a few years ago and tried to make them into police dogs. they said they mastered the training very quickly but found they lacked the focus to perform the job.

My family has had Springer Spaniels my whole life. I’m currently on my 3rd and 4th. They have all been great dogs and great with kids/babies. 3 of the 4 of them have had great on/off switches. Super mellow in the house and hunt like animals. Very loyal but also adapt well to other humans. I’ve been able to “loan them out” to friends and relatives on hunting trips and they’ve had great success as well.
I will say though that our most recent dog, a 1 1/2 year old female lab might just change my mind. So far she’s been the best companion a guy could ask for, and seems like she is going to be a very capable hunter. Not to mention that I never have to have her groomed and burrs are not an issue which is a huge plus!

My younger dog didn’t like the fireworks, 4th of July. Had to get him some doggy downers. Still can’t find my Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon album.

I know my dogs aren’t the best examples. But they are family and enjoy all the benefits that come with that. Plus they’re my little girls! off to hug. jester

I’ve got my second Deutsch Drahthaar. She’s great with my girls (8 and 4). She’s protective of them when it’s appropriate. Very mellow in the house. Keeps an eye on our house and cabin. Phenomenal hunting dog, house and family friendly. She also does not shed. Lose hair, yes. Can’t imagine anything else that could be better for us.

You guys are all missing out. The Spinone is where it’s at!

As long as they’ve had a bit of training,I love most dogs. Unfortunately, I have several relatives that think responsible dog ownership stops with the purchase.

My gsp absolutely loves kids. He follows them like hes a little kid himself. Funny thing is the family that gave him away had three little boys. Btw hes ruthless during grouse / woodcock season, hunts pheasant with reckless abandon and retrieves them all. God I’m lucky…

Norwegian Elkhound are fantastic family dogs. The people of Norway and Sweden hit a home run with this breed. Such personality and so intelligent. I’ve only owned one, but the Facebook groups I’m in are the next best thing.

Anyone have experience with weiner dogs? My daughter wants one but no clue. Always had labs growing up

Dachshunds are my choice we’ve had 7 in our lives so far. Truly great pets.

Dachshunds A.K.A wiener dogs. They can be quite stubborn. Yap at everything. Not really good at anything except making food disappear. Destroy dog beds, and other various mischiefs. But they are the best at helping a guy unwind at the end of a long day.

I’m a big fan of our goldendoodle,Roxy. She’s the most patient, sweet, smart, and great dog. We’ve got 2 young kids (one that never leaves her alone and is constantly in her face or pulling on her) and I’ve never once seen her get aggressive with the kids. She doesn’t shed, but still drops hair here and there, and is just an all around great companion. Only think is that she barks at literally everything…

My mom has one of those dogs. It was so smart as a puppy and now being 3 years old is a amazing dog. Won’t step foot in the kitchen, loves kids, is not a barker, walks with no leash and is obedient as all heck. Very good dog.

Trixie’s color says Blue Healer but DNA test at the shelter measured none. A lot of dachshund in her, evidenced by shorter legs.

    Hybrids are the best!
