    Hello everyone,

Its that time on year again. For anyone who hasn’t met me my name is Nick Schlesser and I am the Large Lake Specialist with the MN DNR for Lake Pepin/Pool 4.

Every year the Walleye Searchers Club from Rochester asks that we do a presentation recapping our annual sampling on Pool 4. This year the club asked that I address a few specific questions in the presentation as well about Pool 4 Sauger populations, the use of length regulations (slot limits), etc.

This years presentation is available here: MN DNR Pool 4 Update with Commentary

I have attempted to accurately represent the conversations and viewpoints of the club members in the “Questions” section any errors in that effort are mine.

I know this presentation is fairly long, but hope that it might answer some questions folks have always had or help to trigger some that you have always wanted answers to.

I am always happy to answer any questions and will do so as quickly as workload allows. Because I cannot continually monitor IDO I would ask that you ask me specific questions via e-mail or phone (below) and if there are common questions I can post some more information that addresses them for everyone in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to look at the presentation and ask questions or provide opinions.

Although I don’t have a lot of interest in pool 4, I commend you in making this accessible to as many people as possible and for your other posts here. I think the more public exposure to things that go on behind the scenes is critical in raising awareness and stewardship.

Thanks to those that have already posted questions. I always like to get more chances to interact with the public. I will try and set aside some time tomorrow to get some answers sent out.

    Thanks

    Nick

I noticed that the link I posted above is now broken (maybe during the conversion to the new site format). I have attached the updated version of that presentation (the Pool 4 status report) given at the 2015 Walleye Searchers meeting in Rochester. I posted this same document in another post, but didn’t want to repost old information and confuse folks. Sorry for any confusion.

    Nick
