It’s getting to be about that time to start getting serious about summer archery practice. Every year I try to do somehting different to increase accuracy and confidence. I’m looking at buying a hand held release. My thought process is that I may be able to get a more solid anchor point. I’m not interested in a back tension release. Does anybody have an reccomendations for a good hand held release. Also explain why it is better or not better than standard trigger releases.

Check out tru-fire’s page they got all kinds of releases. I myself am in love with the new hardcore black max hands down best I have ever used!!!

Carter or TruBall. Ton’s of options available. 2-finger, 3-finger or 4-finger. Different frame sizes, shapes… The Carter Target 4 and the TruBall Max Pro 4 are comfortable in my hand. Fit and comfort are very important when shooting a hand held.

I don’t think that one is better than the other. Different yes, better no. A hand held thumb trigger CAN be more accurate if used with back tension but you still need to squeeze the trigger. Harder to punch a thumb trigger than it is an index finger trigger but it can still be done. Draw length will stay the same but your anchor will most likely change. Much more to this but I don’t want to keep rambling on and on….

Lot’s of pros and cons to each but what it really comes down to is personal preferance. You will never know until you try.

I have a TRUBALL bossX that is awesome. I have a hard time with the trigger type releases because they put to much preasure on my wrist but with this I shoot great. When I bought this one my local archery shop let me try 4 diferant ones at there range before buying. You might want to ask if thats posible because it sucks to spend $200 on one you don’t like.

I bought a tru-fire 4 finger release. I haven’t shot the bow with it yet because the bow has been in the shop getting new strings and cables. The few times I have drawn back with the hand held release, I already like the feel much better. I feel like I’m more “connected” to the bow. There is no slop when you get to full draw, becuause there is no wrist strap to stretch.
