The walleye spawn is done. The crappies and smallmouth are now starting to move in to make their spawning beds. Water temps have come up to 62 degrees in some areas, but cool evening temps this week will slow down their spawn.

Walleyes and smallmouth are being found in 3-9 fow on both jig/minnow and jig/crawler combos, along with slip bobber rigs tipped with fatheads. Many anglers are taking limits of 16″-18″ walleyes and football size CPR smallmouths to keep the day interesting.

The TFF is at full pool, so anglers can access all areas of Wisconsin’s Scenic Wilderness Waters Area. Enjoy!

The walleye bite has been changing as quick as the weather lately i.e. hot and cold. 1/8 and 1/16 slowfall jigs tipped with large mudminnows or fatheads or 1/2 crawler have been producing. Also slip bobber rigs and shallow running rapalas (or similar baits) have also been producing walleyes in 3′-12′ of water around submerged wood or fist sized rock. Try the shallow water first. You will be suprised at how shallow TFF walleyes will hold even at midday.

Small mouth bass and crappies have started to move to the shallows, but could slow down with the cool forecast for the next week. Some nice Jumbo perch are also being taken.

With the late Spring, there is little weed growth for the muskies to relate, but some nice fish have been taken in the warmer shallower bays.

Loons are now nesting. Their nests are only 8″-12″ from the shore, so please watch your wakes until mid-June.

Enjoy Wisconsin’s Scenic Wilderness Waters Area.
