Fishing has been a real grind this summer at our favorite lake but at least some quality fish have started to show themselves. The last 3 days have provided Kokanee over 3 pounds.

Still quite novel to see fishing like that for most of us here in the Midwest.
Background looks so different but beautiful in places far from here.
Those Kokanee? Pretty sure if I remember they turn the bright deep red like Alaskan Sockeye during their spawn?
Is that spring or fall when they spawn?
I would only imagine they’re wonderful on a plate too.

We need some of them in Superior. That sounds really good. Have you ever had Lake Superior coho?

I haven’t had Superior Coho cut caught freshwater Coho in Cali and wasn’t a fan of the taste but loved the fight.
