First smallmouth report of the season. Friday and Saturday (5/11 & 12) I guided long time clients and expert fishermen Fred Fudge and Joe Harvey. Unfortunately, lockjaw was the word of the day. We had 89 deg on Thurs and 45 for a high on Friday. Kakagon slough was muddy so we opted to fish Sandcut. Couldnt get anything going in depths of 6 ft or more so we opted to fish up shallow where we found quite a few fish already on beds. We fished hard with mainly swim jigs and YUM Dingers and landed around 20 fish for the day and half we were out there. Here is a pic of Fred with a 4 lb plus Chequamegon smallie.

    Nice fish Chris!
Same here on the walleye opener for Mich…93 degrees yesterday 39 this morning with T-storms. We managed pretty well though…report coming soon.

Lots of bass on beds here also!
Cant wait to get up there!

Tom, I was pretty nervous about missing most of the prespawn so I am quite happy with these colder temps to delay the spawn at least for a week!! Looking forward to fishing with you next Tues/Wed.
