am I hallucinating of fall temps? Wunderground has the 10 day all below 80 in SE. If this keeps up the fall bite on P4 will heat up before labor day! well probably not but more fishing in September is not a bad thing for this fall guy.

I saw the same thing yesterday. Absolutely no complaints from me! Lows in the low to mid 50’s in my neck of the woods. The air will be getting shut off and windows opened up.

What’s does this mean for crops if anything? Could care less about the fishing, everytime I go to the grocery store I want to cry over the prices. This is getting ridiculous and to think come winter they’re predicting worse.

Crops around here are in good shape. Even in areas that had drought they are rated in fair to good conditions. The most recent USDA Farm Report for MN had 55% of all corn in good shape and soybeans were at 53% in good shape. Wheat and sugar beets look even better. The sugar beet harvest is going to be exceptional.

Obviously many parts of the western half of the country, especially in the southwest, are in major drought. I can’t comment on the condition that produce and crops are in out there.

Here’s the most recent crop report here:

You could always raise your own food then it will cost you 3x as much.

What’s the go to tactic in September and October on Pool 4 ? Pitching jigs , cranks ? Bouncers ? Be happy to see the tuna boats disappear lol .

i fish head of the lake and up river in fall. sometime i stick to the lake too just depends on my mood/wind/flow? I cast plastics up shallow, drag live bait up stream or my favorite is snapping glide baits vertical in current seams up river. if my motor is working too hard in the current it isn’t going to happen so it just depends day to day. the river always keeps you thinking and second guessing yourself and that is why i love the game!

I so hope you are right about the temps, especially around the 18th-21st!
Myself and a few others are meeting up at Ferryville to thrash the sippi into submission, or at least try to.
I think it was Mike M here that told me, on the river you dont own any lures, you rent them from the river and she wants all of them back??
If so, there goes a hundred bucks downstream, at least the odds sound better than any old casino!

circling back to the hottest month all year and we are seeing 70’s still into the dog days of summer. i will be taking my boat out of summer storage this week to start my season for sure unless something comes up. fall this year on the pool should be amazing and all over the state for those that ain’t in the woods or done fishing.

family, fishing, fall, food, football……my favorite F words!

August has been a glorious month. It hasn’t been super hot or humid and we’ve gotten regular rain. Much better than June or July. The long term forecast looks really nice too.
