Does anyone know which manufacturer Lund used for steering systems in the early 80’s, so I can buy a replacement rack and pinion steering cable? If no longer available, another make of cable that will fit/ bolt in? Mine takes a 14 ft. cable.

The one for my Lund boat is a rack and pinion style. The end of the cable has an 18 inch by 1.5 inch steel box with a toothed rack inside it, and the steering box, driven by turning the wheel, has a pinion on the end that pulls and pushes the rack.

If they don’t have one, they may be able to steer you (no pun intended) on finding one.

Here’s one, I highly recommend the no feedback system.

This will probably be much easier in a early 80’s Mr pike. Once the cable were routed the resy of the job went rather smooth. I used the same setup as is posted by Deuces above.
