a little nervous about driving on the ice. like I said im from the Chicago area. we never have enough ice here to drive our vehicles on the ice. I know its common practice up there.

will be investing in a atv at some point. Thanks for all the replies. Ill be off work the last 2 weeks in dec. I guess ill have to see what ice conditions are at that time.

I have not sold yet. have had several guys pm me but have not worked anything out yet. However I wanted to tell you I’m not really looking to in a trade. I upgrade to the ge2 touch units and want to sell old units to help pay off new units.

I actually have 2 LCX 28c hd units but one is still on my boat. Ill be selling that one as soon has I get the new units installed.

Thanks everyone. I went with the gen2 touch.so I now have the 12inch and the 9 inch on the dash and the 7inch on the bow. I just couldn’t justify the extra money for the gen 3. I just don’t think there is a whole lot of difference between the 2 and the 3. Besides…. On top of the awesome price on got I’m getting a 200 dollar rebate for each unit. So I will probably end up getting the wireless module with the rebate money . Anyway thanks for all your opinions.

I think profishingsupply.com has the best prices. I just bought a 12 inch and a 7 inch gen 2 touch to go with my 9 inch I got last year. They are the cheapest I’ve found plus you get a Lowrance rebate.

Thanks to everyone for their reply’s. All were valid and sensible. I’ve learned the hard way over the years that if you do things cheap especially when your trying something out. It may ruin the experience and make you run in the other direction. Boats are a perfect example of that. I went through 2 cheap boats before I just realized I need to spend the money and do it right. I want to point out that I’m not a stranger to ice fishing. Just never had my own gear. I’ve been on a few trips with friends etc…..The other thing I wanted to say was. I just had a battle with cancer last year in which I won. So I’m doing what I want, how I want from this point on. I love to fish and spend time with my 14yr old boy. Time is short fellas make it count!
This is what I ended up getting. Thanks again for the input.

Otter XT1200 Lodge (Hyfax + Travel cover)
    LX7
    LX6
    Strikemaster 8″ Lazer Mag

I have a couple of ice rods and a hand full of tackle. Like I said I will be buying some property in MN in the spring close to a good body of water. Not sure where yet. Its my dream… and I’m going for it.

Will be taking a hard water trip this winter to test out new gear and maybe scout some property. Thanks again and any tips on lakes , tackle, etc are welcome. See you in the ice.

Ok… So the Otter XT1200 Lodge Full Thermal with cover and Hyfax is on the way. I could really use some good input on electronics. Also a good hand held GPS.
