Can you recommend a good gps app with downloadable maps? No way I could get data some places I hunt.

I have the lakemaster and its ok. you can layer the google earth maps over it as well. its $20 tho.

The cabelas hunting one is nice too, but the problem is that your paying a monthly fee to use the premo version.

Otherwise, a good standby is the regular google maps app that comes natively on the android phones.

Remember to turn your gps radio on. If you are in an area with bad service, i’d shut off the mobile wireless and wifi radios to save your battery, plus you dont need them unless you are looking for new driving directions anyways.

personally i like george, he said everything that i was thinking, and didnt hold any punches. granted he prolly said a lot of that for the show’s benefit to help create drama, but you got to remember that he was being egged on by the producers to stir the pot a little. i really respect that he threw the 2nd to last challenge for chris reed so that he could pay for his girls college… that was a stand up thing to do in my book. did you watch the recap show after the final? he could have hit both of those shots with his eyes closed and he didnt. and jamie’s blog paints a totally different picture of what that atmosphere was like.

this is a blog copied from the archerytalk written by Jamie after his tour in afghanistan.

Thanks very much for all the continued support. I was especially proud of my showing with the 1911, and the Razorcat Race Gun. Not too shabby with the compound bow, and the tomahawk, either!

All of the drama between George and I is a little bit rediculous, and a little out of proportion, I think. All of us on the Red Team got along great 95% of the time, and were always respectful and friendly with each other. Me and Gunny, and Me and Chris Reed especially got along well. The editors have to cram 72 hours into 43 mintues of air time, and they cut it to create the atmosphere that they want to portray. At one point the producers told us that we were making them sick because we were all getting along so well, and not trash talking enough.

None of the competition or contestant interaction is scrpited. The only things that were scripted were some of the promo stuff we did for History (that I haven’t seen aired yet).

Although nothing was scripted, sometimes during our interviews they would try to steer you towards something that they wanted you to say. For example: there were many interviews where they tried to get me to talk trash about George, and tried to steer me towards saying that he was singling me out, and picking on me, and that I was sick of it, etc.

I never wanted to say those things because – #1: I didn’t want to sound like I was whining and crying, #2: I guess I’m incredibly naive because George and I got along pretty well 90% of the time. There was no way I could have known about him talking so much crap behind closed doors… I actually went so far as to defend George a few times when they (the producers) were trying to get me to call him out.

I didn’t dislike George, and tried to be his friend, and we still keep in touch a little bit through FaceBook. George does have the skills to pay the bills when it comes to long range shooting, and there is A TON that I would like to learn from him. He definitely knows what he’s doing and what he’s talking about. His career field is Military Police, and he is qualified as a USAF Security Forces Counter-Sniper.
*BUT* he has attended the Army Sniper School (Bravo-4), and the USMC Scout Sniper Course, in addition to several Law Enforcement SWAT Sniper / Counter-Sniper courses. He has won numerous sniper competitons in the U.S. including the all-military “Top Sniper” competition in 2009. To win that competition he (and his spotter) made an 1800 yard shot on the first attempt. There are not many people in the whole world that could hit a man-sized target at 1800 yards with 1 shot.

I really tried as hard as I could to stay above the drama, and I wanted to represent THE ENTIRE US Navy with honor and integrity. It wasn’t my goal to make friends, but I certainly didn’t want to make enemies either. I was having fun, trying to shoot well, trying to be a stand-up guy, and make the most out of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I really like rope cleats and they are easy to use. And you cant get anything in the pinch points.

except voiding any protection plan you have on it. but i guess you can always re-image it before you take it in… has anyone had problems getting a replacement phone after your rooted one died?

as far as SD cards, i have a sandisk 16gb and its stable. its not the fastest card on the market, but its fast enough to keep up with my phones processor.

until cameras allow you to watch your bait at any depth and at any time of day, you need a flasher first.

would you want just side imaging before gps/sonar? no, but side imaging sure is fun to have!

hit forest lake, more specifically the north shore of the 3rd lake… you can catch dink pannies all day. Theres a shack village to get you in the right area, when i take the kiddos i try to say on the south or east edge of them.

if you have a smart phone, i think navionics has a gps app..
my buddy has it and its pretty accurate compared to my h20c and LM chip. youre not going to get the 1′ contours, but it gives you a good idea of drop offs, holes, etc.. and its only like $10 for the app. and you can overlay it on google maps (satellite and road versions)

flashers are tools, cameras are more for fun.

get the flasher first. that way you can find the fish, you can watch them swim at a later date, but you have to find them first!

if you want a good bowling song, look up stephen lynch’s bowling song.

the official name of the song is ‘almighty malachi, professional bowling god’. BEWARE, hes got some big boy language going on, but if you know anything about pro bowling you will find it clever. great song to blast during bowling league as well.

all 5 pcs function and are on a router?? just forward them to an internet email addy(gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc).. that way you can access them from any pc with internet access.

and you dont have to go one by one, you should just be able to forward multiples based on the size of the attachments (aka old emails)

they work just fine, we use a ventless blue flame heater in our rv. the only down side to them is that they put out a lot of moisture and all the walls will sweat. to counteract that, we throw up styrofoam insulation against the almost every window. it doesnt eliminate the problem, but it significantly reduces the amount of condensation that gathers throughout the nite.

get a canon. you can get a decent elph in that price range.
i have owned 3 canons to date, currently i have a sd780 (~$200). it takes great photos, its super easy to use, and the LCD is huge, and its almost the same size as my alias2 flip phone.

given your max price range, i’d look at the A-series — not as feature heavy, and they take AA batts which makes finding power easy.

i’ve heard its the other way around brad.

from my understanding, the duo-locs, snap swivels, etc, allow your crankbait to achieve its full range of motion because if you tie directly to the ring, you can pinch the line onto it and it will limit the movement. unless of course you tie on some sort of loop knot with plenty of room for the ring to rotate.

but then again, mb its all personal preference… kinda like a chevy/ford debate.

when i run mine off the cord, i remove the batts. if that doesnt work, you most likely need a new cord. if you need one, give their service hotline a call, i have had nothing but good experiences with them.

i dont think that 20m cp would burn through fog any better, just my eyes! i have the 3.5m cp cyclops spot with a 12V cig adapter. it works great for me. i purposefully chose one without an internal battery because i knew they didnt hold a charge long enough, and didnt want the dead weight.

bring a big spot light… i have a 3million CP handheld spot that i plug into 12v and use on the river. its great for identifying stuff floating.

but if you’re gonna run the water in the dark, you better scout it out during the day.
