I have the 580 glass in amber in the swordfish frame. I would say, like some others, that the glass lens is better for durability. I’ve tried all colors and still think the amber is the best all around for everyday use as well as fishing. Glass is a bit heavier, but my nose knows no difference…. I think the frame design is pretty important too. I have a larger melon than say my wife, I prefer the frames that wrap and seal the light coming in from my temples, one con to this style is fog up on some days.

    enjoy

I really do enjoy the self imposed regulations, I use them as well. You have the right idea and I’m glad to hear you appreciate the fragility of a resource. You sir, are the man.

Thorne Brothers, ask for Lonnie. If made in the USA means anything to you, stay away from the china rip-offs please. If you arent sure where the blanks come from ask the man building them. Simple Yes or No.

The gov. cant JUST print money, it doesn’t work that way. They have to have something accountable such as gold to account for every dollar, without the gold to be accounted for the American dollar is worth nothing.

    Or less and less!!:(

Without going into the details of how they deliver more money into the economy, lets just call it what it is. Selling America! One gold bar at a time! Selling our debt to foreign countries making our economy “not so much” in our control! China would LOVE for us to build a new bridge!!

I am not against a new bridge for you guys, just not now, and does it HAVE to be a 700 Million dollar “masterpiece” of engineering marvel?

HI65 is a mess, everyday. I knew that when I moved here, I deal with it. The new overpasses are nice, but they dont save that much time, a few minutes is all. It is more fleece that we didnt need, and job creation that was temporary. They would have been better off removing some of the stoplights and making frontage roads to access the businesses at a fraction of the cost to taxpayers in Cook CO. But, thats not how our government works. The only way to get more $$ is to overspend what you were allotted every year, that old game. Snowplows running 4 days after a dusting of snow type stuff.

If I know anything about this administration, that 700 mil WILL be spent on other projects, and “programs” anyway. So that being the case it would be better spent on a safer, more 21st century bridge. It is a sad day when those are our only options

I support Bachmann, she is a cougar.

    NICE!

I AM “with” the times, it’s called fiscal responsibility and we all need to make sacrifices to get this ship righted again. I am a little upset that Bachmann is not holding up her promise to be more responsible with our money, this seems to be a political move all the way, “Hey, look at me cross party lines and work with (D)Ron Kind from Wisconsin.”

    I did vote for her.

    But I’m not buying it.

I do. They even give you the total at the bottom for all these 1 lane gravel road bridges you speak of, just over 250 million for greater MN and almost 220 million for the cities. Now where does 700 million fit in for 1 bridge? compared to 150 other road and bridge projects totalling roughly 470 million?

Jobs, these are the “temporary” ones that Obama has been beating his chest about creating. Government does not “create” jobs they just spend money, our money, when they run out they print more thus spending your kids money.

Tolls, I bet the 6 dollar toll will barely support the maintenance of this bridge, surely not repay the 700 million and provide maintenance. So the money has to come from somewhere?

I’d have to agree with you on the scenic route thing though. It seems absurd to classify it in that category.

It’s going to be a tough battle to get it passed. Good Luck with that!! Money buys judgements, bridges buy votes, government debt mortgages your childrens future, but man I hate traffic!!

    OUT!

If you dont think Stillwater neesds a new bridge have you ever seen that rusty eye sore that sits there now? If a boat comes thru in the summer downtown is congested for an hour. I personally know people that won’t visit Stillwater due to the congestion .

So what is the big push for the new bridge? You are telling me its rusty eye sore (so is my truck), there are traffic jams, and you know people who wont visit Stillwater because of the traffic. Well, there is rust all over this state, traffic jams alike. Apparently Stillwater does ok (as evident by the traffic jams). So we need to promote MORE people into Stillwater? I bet the mayor loves that idea, I bet he is bummed you cant vote for him!!

Yes there will be 2 BROKE states paying for this bridge. my point is still the same.

I wonder what the taxpayers in Milwaukee think about this bridge?

P.S. I spend just as much if not more of my MN earned money in MN than I do in WI so statements like that are neither here nor there and make little to no sense on the topic at hand at all.

I dont want to argue with you where you spend your money. But, I know that if I tried to double (and then some) my spending after paying the MN companies that I rely on to live every month, I’d be broke. So, I am questioning your statement. You must do well for yourself.

Off target here a little. The bridge will affect fishing, temporarily. That area will be affected permanently. Harm on the fishery? No. Inconvenience a trolling pattern, yeah. Make new fishing spots? yes. New Public access, good! Spending 700 mil on something we dont absolutely need right now with our state being broke is not a good idea.

I have lived in Richfield, Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eden Prairie, Mounds View and now reside in Isanti. I hate Budweiser.

You will have a hard time getting sympathy from me or anyone regarding your little traffic jam in stillwater. Try 35w north out of dakota county. 494 E or W around Bloomington. 10 through coon rapids, 35 through arden hills, 394? 94? 169 and 494. Stillwater in the summer? not a priority.

This is interesting. Everyone seems to agree we need to control government spending and cut wasteful projects. UNLESS it benefits me directly…..then we are all for it. How is this ever going to work.

$700,000,000 to make it easier for WI residents to come to MN and work then take money back to WI and spend it!!!

You chose to live in WI and commute across the river to work everyday!! Not my problem, get a bigger thermos for your coffee!

I took a ride around the area with a buddy today. Basically, from the dam (not the lock side)to the first big bend past Hidden Falls is open water. From doggie beach past the marina and the confluence to 35E bridge and beyond are mainly ice covered, I stopped at Lilydale launch. Got a good look at the spillway from the VA, there is actually a healthy amount of water coming over, thats helping out. There was plenty of shore to shore ice, but some of that shore ice was starting to seperate from the bank and most of it was a greenish black. A little more flow and things will change in a hurry. I still think we are looking at the end of the month, maybe a few days earlier. Accessing Hidden Falls seems to be the issue.

My charm is wearing out, I called her again and she knew my name…. you try, 651-632-2413 Karen.

Fishing the river several years back with a buddy, several other boats fishing an area, its very quiet. A guy comes flying up the river stops in fast current, makes one pitch with crankbait, snagged, broke off. Sets to retie, by this time he is a quarter mile down river. Flys back to the other bank, one cast, snagged, broke off.

Screams “OH, COME ON” loud as he**, everyone heard it. Been a running joke ever since.

Mike, thats exactly what I was thinking. It wont take much to run that shore ice off the river and then its a matter of prepping the ramp.

Karen at St. Paul Parks said they might have it opened up by the start of next week. Whether or not she said that to shut me up or meant it, we’ll see.

    Ice chipping party?

Pool 2 has to be a catch and release fishery. No need to change anything.

However, the response time for the TIP line needs to be a little faster. I have seen, walleyes being kept, ran up the hills into the woods and stashed. I called TIP and nobody ever showed up while I was there (35 mins). I even told the guy that I called the DNR, but he didnt understand me, must have been my accent.

My biggest walleye was from pool 2. Can Not Wait.

Talked to Karen at St Paul Parks, 651-632-2413. Apparently she is a walleye fisherwoman, and may be a great friend to have there. She said she was going to try and get it opened up a few weeks earlier than last year. I said our time down there is going to be shortened this year due to flooding and it would be nice to have it opened up mid February or earlier.

When it does open, please let your trailer drain at the bottom of the ramp, dont be dragging that water all the way up. I know it takes a little longer but a rig stuck in the drink takes much longer.

I will keep calling them and post when I hear new info.

I called St Paul Parks and Rec Operations at 651-632-5111 last year and asked them about opening the gates and plowing out the ramp. Dont know if it worked but I bet if they get enough of us calling it might help. I think our window is going to be short this year.

    Thanks for the picture Jason.

“Two or more Non-weather home claims,in a 3 year period, can permit your insurance company to non-renew your home policy.”

    Unlikely to happen…..
Any reputable company with competent adjusters wont cancel you for having claims. You are going to pay more in premiums but that should be expected.

if you cant add your boat to your home and autos with any confidence through your current agent/company then 1- you are paying too much 2- your current agent isnt doing his job 3- you need to review your insurance plan.

good insurance goes beyond, “getting your stuff fixed”
