    TIEMANN, STANFORD WIN WAL-MART RCL WALLEYE LEAGUE EVENT ON GREEN BAY

    GREEN BAY, Wis. (May 24, 2004) – Boater James Tiemann of Marinette and co-angler Herbert Stanford of Oregon combined for a total of five walleyes weighing 38 pounds, 5 ounces to claim victory at the Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League tournament held Saturday on Green Bay. Tiemann claimed $3,570 plus $500 bonus for the win, with Stanford earning $1,785 from the Wisconsin Division event.
    The winners caught their limit with crawler harnesses and rattle beads around the Oconto area.
    Finishing second were Bob Truttschel of Oconomowoc ($1,836 plus $400 bonus) and Brad Jakusz of Stevens Point ($918) with five walleyes weighing 38 pounds. Brian Deffner of Wausau ($1,530 plus $300 bonus) and Chad Michels of Greenville ($765) caught five walleyes weighing 37 pounds, 1 ounce to finish third. Dave Wirth of Berlin ($1,326) and David Woyak of Hartland ($663) claimed fourth place with five walleyes that weighed 36 pounds, 1 ounce. Finishing fifth were Steve Bodinger of Chilton ($918), and Tad Dachelet of Menasha ($459) thanks to a five-walleye catch that weighed 35 pounds, 11 ounces.
    The Wisconsin Division’s next event will be a two-day Super Tournament, July 10-11 on Lake Winnebago. Boaters and co-anglers who finish in the top 25 in final points standings in each RCL Walleye League division will advance to the $100,000 RCL League Finals Sept. 2-4 on Bays de Noc in Escanaba, Mich. The winning boater at the finals will receive an Evinrude-or Yamaha-powered Ranger, Crestliner or Lund boat. Every angler who receives weight credit in a tournament earns points, with 200 points awarded to the winner, 199 points for second, and so on, except for Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 298 to second, and so on.
