The Big Fishing Derby

Big Brothers Big Sisters of northeast Iowa is having a fishing derby on Sunday June 10th at noon till 4pm at Eagle lake in Evansdale as a fund raiser. The cost is $2.00 at the gate for kids ages 5-16, adults and kids under 5 yrs are free. The first 500 kids to catch and release a fish win a prize. You can keep the fish you catch, but they’re your responsibility as we have no fish cleaning facilities. All kids that catch a fish will be entered into a grand prize drawing for a Nintendo Wii to be given away during the Waterhawks ski show that starts at 6pm. There are lots of other great prizes to be given away also. There will be food and drinks out there that you can purchase, so bring your kids, poles, tackle, and bait and have a fun day of fishing. An Iowa fishing license is required for adults that have kids fishing, and kids 16 yrs and older. The lake contains blue gill, crappie, catfish, bass, carp, and other species of fish.
