We are taking the family out to SD at the end of next week. Some site seeing around the Hills and then fishing in Fort Thompson on Francis Case. The plan is to pull bottom bouncers. I never use this tactic so any tips would be great. Also what color/design spinner should we start with out there and/or are traditionally good out there? advice as to depths to start this time of year and bottom bounce weight-to-depth advice would be appreciated. We are planning on crawlers and leeches. Any other suggestions are welcomed. thank you

I have not been out there in years but we used 2 oz bottom bouncers all day with any type harness as long as it was chartreuse…it was a must color..we launched in Chamberlin and always went upstream towards the crow creek area. Lots of trees sticking out of the water..be careful!! We went all the way to the dam a few times with not much to show for it. Lake Sharpe above the dam is a great fishing area also, just a crappy car ride from Chamberlin. I have been out there about 5 times I guess and after a few trips I decided it’s just a river and pulled out the river tactics..jigs..yes chartreuse…we verticaled jigs deep and pitched them shallow with minnows, crawlers and leaches…and of course plastics…live bait worked best. Good luck and have fun..that SD wind can be a B***c so be careful!!!
