    Take a bite of it and see if it tastes like chicken. If I don’t its probably a minnow.

    Hard to tell the size. If I were to guess though I’d say emerald shiner.

    I would go with a member of the shiner family, but I don’t think it is a emerald shiner. Maybe a common, river or mimic shiner?

    You could be correct, the reason I did not suggest golden shiner is I could not see (even when I blew the photo up) the “decurved” lateral line that is characteristic of the golden shiner.

    Sure helps to have these little fish in hand to determine what species they are.

    I agree having them in hand is better than pics any day. The lateral stripe and mouth is what made me think golden. A quick look on wiscfish provided a pretty close match.
