Screws too small?

  • #1874141

Mounting my new Lowrance hook2 7 inch today and the screws included for mounting the unit are too small for the holes. There were no other screws and no washers included. Am I missing something?

Well, yeah, you’re missing the right screws and washers. grin I see a trip to the hardware store in your future.

I always use ss bolts with nylon nuts and flat washers.

I assume you mean Nylok, not nylon.

Nylon nuts will strip easily. Stainless steel nuts with the nylon locking insert (Nylok nuts) will not strip easily, will not corrode, and will not loosen under the vibration commonly experienced in boats.

    Ya Ron, you got me.

I installed my 1198 & 998 Hbirds using them on both ends. They were completely reusable after 6 or 7 years that I installed the new units early this summer with the same nuts and bolts. Had there been an inkling of wear or corrosion, I would have trashed them and went for new.
