I found this mosaic on an old temple that was built in the 16th century. This temple is situated on the Mekong River at the confluence of the Nam Ngam River. It had different scenes on it depicting what life was like in Laos. There was one in particular that caught my eye of some fishermen. I’m not sure what species that this scenes represents but you can sure tell they were big fish. In this stretch of the Mekong many large species live like Giant Mekong Catfish, Siamese Carp, Julian’s Golden Price Carp, and Freshwater Stingray. Unfortunately, many of them are becoming more and more rare but it makes you wonder what life was like a few hundred years ago before over-fishing took place.
