Lots of info on this in the forum history. Here’s one link I found pretty quickly.

    Commander Reels

Okuma Ceymar and Daiwa QZ are my personal favorites.

I had a Sahara sitting in my closest so I thought a Commander would go with it nicely. Can’t wait for a chance to use it.

Give a full-size open water spinning reel a try sometime. I think they just feel better, especially on a longer 36-38” Commander. Plus they tend to have smoother drags. I really like how the nylon lines just flow off the larger spools.

I have a Shimano Stradic 2500 CI4 on my 38” Commander. It weighs less than a 1000 size Sahara, which is what I previously had on there.

The Inspira was high on the list. Ended up getting a Helios for half off so I went that route instead. Like Bass Thumb I like a beefier reel on the Commander.

I have tried a few reels on my Commanders. The longer 38″ model I really like my Stradic Ci4+ 1000, but also have one with a Shimano 500 on the shorter ones and really like both setups.

The Ceymar 10 is a great reel to use as well.

This is what I just put on mine! I already have 2 on my other TUCR’s
*Edit* I run the 1000 series but if you like them a bit beefier the 2000 would be perfect!
