Even with the wind, my dad and I managed to get out and enjoy a few hours of fishing this afternoon. We fished a bay on the South end that gave us a little protection from the wind, and thought that we would do our best to help thin out the hammer handle population. It took us a couple hours, but we found a mess of them in the weeds in 6-8 fow. Swim baits and spinner baits were the top producers. We ended up keeping 5, but had at least that many come unbuttoned.

It had been a long time since I intentionally targeted the slimy buggers, and I forgot how fun they can be! If the pickling goes well, I will get out there and take a few more. The wind is expected to keep up tomorrow, so we will have to see what we can come up with for a game plan.
