I have a friend coming up to ice fish with me this weekend and only have one vexilar but have an X-4 i use in my kayak that I could easily rig for the ice, anyone used and X-4 on hard water and is it worth the effort?

I have an x-4 that was on my boat when I got it. I think the biggest problem you are going to have is the cone angle for the regular boat transducer is 60 degrees instead of 20. That and the interference with the vex is going to cause some problems. An ice transducer from lowrance will fix the cone angle problem but not sure about the interference. I now use an Elite 4 HDI for ice fishing and I have to use noise filtering if anyone is around me, but I don’t remember if the x-4 had that option. I don’t use a vex but I know on my lowrance I can put it between my dead stick hole and my jig hole and see everything down there. Is that an option with the vex? Could both guys use the same flasher?
