Hello all, been using an x4 for the past 15 or so years, finally updated to an elite ti w/ totalscan. Im having trouble marking fish unless sensitivity is set very high. Ive read alot of forums and it seems most people are uaing auto mode or running between 50-70%. I however cannot mark any fish/arches under 70%
They start to show up around 75% along with alot of noise. Current settings are high surface clarity, medium noise rejection, auto contrast, auto colorline.
Please look at following screen shots with 95,85,75 sensitivity. Again, nothing under 70. Any advice and tips would be much appreciated. Thankyou

Also, one last question…is ping speed important. It was set to max from factory. Can the transducer “burnout” with this setting? Thank you

Set scroll speed to normal, ping 12-14, surface clarity low, sensitivity +3, color line 74 to start and fine tune from there. Most importantly make sure your transducer is level and flush with the bottom of your hull. It should be at least 8 inches from your prop and in a clear area without rivets or anything to obstruct the clean water flow. The Total Scan transducer is a very good one. If you have to turn up the sensitivity that much it is probably your transducer is not level when you are running on plane. There are good videos on YouTube about leveling your transducer. Ping speed set at max won’t hurt but isn’t needed, start at 12 and work up.

I just got the Dr. Sonar Elite TI DVD. Gonna watch it here in the next few days. I will let you know what I learn as I just got this unit also.

Don’t know Lowrance all that well, but why the bottom readout is around 40′ and the depth shows less than 30′ is suspect to me.

The 30′ is a “real time” reading as the 40′ was a track back reading.
    Thanks for everyones replies.

I’d say 1 or a combination of the following three things.

    1. Transducer is obstructed
    2. Transducer is not level
    3. Transducer is bad

Medium noise reduction could be filtering out too much. Try low for noise rejection and surface clutter.
