petenwell strange day

    hit the petenwell flowage today about 7 am little hairy getting onto the ice but was ok after that got set up and the vexilars were loaded with fish after fish but we couldnt get them to bite the ice got vocal they must have been lowering the water it was really thundering kinda spooky could see the water level drop in the hole was wierd then about 12ish the ice got quiet and the fish turned on ended up being very busy for the next 3 hours we got 25 crappies 9 white bass 3 walleyes (all short) and 2 catfish one 25 incher man what a battle all in all a great day on the ice thanks blue perch for an awesome day again flyer spoons and deadsticks were the weapons of choice with whole fathead minnows

    They bring the level down every year… when they do the fishing over at the Lure usually dies down to nothing… I might be mistaken, but I think this is kind of late????

    They do drop the water level every year. They were dropping it more than usual this year due to the amount of snow we got. They had allready dropped it about 3′ by the end of January with another 4-6′ to go by ice out. The south end of the lake picks up as the water level drops most years.
