Well, after tiring of “Bucket Butt”, I decided to build a seating mod for my DX3000.

This makes the shack MUCH more comfortable, allows for tucking gear under the bench out of the way and transports easily. It also allows for a third person. By using heavy-duty hardware, it will even hold my large butt in the center without giving way.

Total cost was about $20. I utilized scrap wood from the garage and purchased the hinges, foam and canvas.

The foam is 2 inches, and the canvas is heavy duty with both being purchased at Hancock Fabrics.

The boards on the bottom side are to help keep the bench aligned with the buckets, otherwise it will slide around.

For transporting, I added a hook and eye to keep it folded/closed. It fits well into my mini-Otter and weighs only about 5 lbs.

As you can see, it really makes the inside of the shack more efficient and comfortable.
