One of the things I’ve concluded while test driving Humminbird’s new Down Imaging is that Down Imaging is NOT simply a spiffed up 2D sonar. Down Imaging provides high resolution images of structure, and because of its wide area of coverage compared to the normal 200 kHz beam, helps anglers identify fish beneath their boats that traditional 2D sonar misses.
