I’m not sure if there is anything more fun than getting on top of Rainy Lakes Slab Crappies. Well the Game is on!!! Between the 3 of us tonight we put the hurt on around 50 beautiful crappies. Biggest went 15 inches on the nose. All artificials turning the fish. There is no question about the fact that Crappie fishing revolves around location. Ran into a friend out on the lake who was laying into the slabs the past few days, and were able to duplicate the pattern. Crappies are spot on spot fish. Like fishing walleyes in the summer where often times certain locations on a structure hold the fish these crappies were the same tonight. You could pick one or two up in certain spots, but when you found the active pod it was lights out. 3 of us crowded the front of the boat slinging into the “HOT POCKETS”. It was phenomenal!! I tell ya I love catching big Pike, walleyes, smallies, Gills… But Big Spawning Crappies have got to be my favorite (At least today)
