Back in the News, he was in Court.

Maybe we should get as many as possible to showup in court in support of his position? What would happen if 500 people showed up to support him and next year we all go out 2-3 days prior to the opener when the Tribal people are netting and start fishing?

After are we not all Americans and should we not all have to abide by the same Laws?

He has my support. I would like to know next time so I can show up in court to support his position.

Im game for a rally next spring!!!

If thses treaties were done in the mid to early 1800’s why are they allowed to use modern technology??? Ive never really understood that part…. If they want to go and make hand made canoes, hand made torches for light, and hand made stick spears like what was in practice during the writing of the treaties then I am actaully for it. I would be intrested enough to probably actually go watch….

I don’t support the treaties, but the argument that they cannot use modern equipment is moot, unless spelled out in the treaty. I doubt they had the foresight for that.

I Think really the only way to resolve this is declare war on them and occupy their casinos. Then we are in a position to renegotiate.

In a story about a court case, one would think the writer would mention what the court decided to do! The article left a lot of unanswered questions. Was he convicted? Any fine or other punishment? Was the case delayed? Will there be another hearing to decide penalties? Charges dropped?

I sent Dennis Anderson an e-mail. I’ll post any response I may get.

Got a reply from Dennis Anderson. The case was continued. He mentioned that Fellegy will probably write a blog on the topic. So, continue to check the Strib outdoor section of the website.

Just a side note. I completely support what Steve Fellegy is doing. Sounds like something I might have done if I lived on the lake. But, I’m just a weekender “Citidiot” with no clout. Good luck on keeping the issue front and center. Hope your judge is an outdoorsman/woman!

Pawns of the liquor industry, unite!
Anglers, are you going to let them play you for suckers again? If we allowed casino gambling in every bar and tax the proceeds to balance the state budget would that finally bring an end to this perennial racist bickering over tribal rights?
Reminds me of a buncha seagulls. This thread needs to end here.

Ya gotta be careful there…How about it if WE had to go back and only use muskets with no scopes on our high power repeating rifles? No Binoculars? No head lamps? How about our 250 HP 21 foot boats? No one is more opposed to netting than me…(Well maybe Steve Fellegy! ) but we have to be very careful how we present that case. Steve’s admonition that it is “Unequal Rites” that is at stake is the right way to do it in my opinion…and I know…everybody’s got one!

And another thing I would like to say is that every Mille Lacs fisherman owes a debt of gratitude to Mr. Fellegy for his efforts in getting some sort of resolution to this. If you see him around any of the local establishments up there, do yourself a favor and buy him a beer and he can tell you more than you would ever care to hear about the subject and about the lake. He really puts his money where his mouth is while we sit here and read about it.

Huh? Seems to me this about equal rights for all. Not just for a select few.
