TV truck gets to bottom of ice danger

    From the Journal Sentinel

A WDJT-TV (Channel 58) news truck became the news Sunday afternoon when it broke through ice on Big Muskego Lake while out for a story about ice safety.

Buy a link hereFrom a boat launch, the driver had taken the truck about 150 yards onto an iced-over channel leading to the lake when the ice suddenly gave way, Muskego police Sgt. John Mesich said.

The truck quickly sank to the bottom of the channel, which is about 4 to 5 feet deep. The driver, who was alone in the truck, mistakenly thought the ice over the channel was a road, Mesich said.

She was working on a segment about snowmobile safety on ice, according to the sergeant. She escaped without injury, but the truck will remain in the channel until it can be hauled to solid ground in the next couple of days.

It’s unclear whether the driver will be cited, Mesich said.

someone should find a picture of this, I saw one on JSonline (Milwaukee Journal Sentinal) yesterday and its pretty funny (no one got hurt) the truck froze over night because it was so cold, then the had to make a 50′ trench to try and tow it out. Bet that girl will be a little more careful when she does a story on “ice safety”
