With the rise in temperatures over the weekend i might head out on a solo expedition to lake winona.. any recent reports/ideas/tips? I fished it only once or twice since i moved here. Any bait shops i should talk too before i go out?

I used to live in Winona. I remember drilling holes in the ice but I don’t seem to recall ever catching anything. I don’t even remember where I got bait? This could just a sign of aging.? It’s been about 18 years I guess. Sorry I couldn’t help. Best of luck!
The only bait shops in town are West End Bait on west 5th street or Daniel’s Ace hardware on Huff right by the river. Daniel’s might be better for info but it depends on who is working since they are primarily a hardware store.
I have not been on lake Winona much lately but there were guys catching some decent gills near the hospital a while back. I can’t comment on the ice conditions with the snow other than I see cars and trucks on the lake every day.
