New St Croix Nsi rods Vs older Legend Rods

    What is the differnce between the newer Nsi Rods and the older models. Is there much of a difference in the sensitivity of these? I am looking at a 2010 model that is considerably cheaper than a new XS69mlxf.

    Sensitvity is not the issue… NSI give a great strength increase in the tip section.
    What sold me when I visited St Croix, was the tackle shop guy taking the tip if an (NSI) XS69MLXF and bending it back nearly to itself
    Do NOT try that with an older Legend Extreme as the tip will snap off much sooner than that…NSI gives 35% more strength to those slim,slim tapers on the front end of the Legend Series rods…

    You can get great deals on the non NSI (2010 and older) Legend models since they are no longer manufactured. They still fish great… hope that helps

    guy did that also when i visited park falls. broke the rod 4 inches down on the tip the first trip out lifting a 12 incher in the boat 3 days later had a new rod tho and went this whole year without and problems
