Why are you having the Pottery Barn follow me?

    I realize that the dozen plus ads on every IDO page are a neccesary evil. But I do not believe that the Pottery Barn bathroom fixture ads are targeted to our demographic on this site.

    Since I looked at some bath fixtures on the pottery barn site a few days ago I am assuming that the Outside Hub or IDO is somehow using what I would consider malware to track our web surfing. I do not have anything to hide but I find that a bit intrusive and more than a bit over the line.

    Anyone else seeing Pottery Barn ads?

    Nope, never. And I don’t have adds “follow” me either.

    I’m pretty sure IDO has no such tracking software. The problem is likely on your end.

    Actually, since firing up my new ‘puter last week, I get ALOT of security info pop ups saying, this site “IDO” is trying to access/download to my ‘puter… I tell it NO… Never ever seen that prior to last week…

    Chubby, I can assure you that IDo isn’t tracking you.

    I can’t say for certain about any of the Outside Hub ads, but it will be looked into promptly.

    It’s pretty common practice, software “cookies” are always tracking your movements on the net.

    I wouldn’t get to worked up about it, it is what it is.

    If IDO were tracking me I’d see some pretty graphic adds pop up. but I see nothing like that

    The only thing I see IDO trying to sell me is fishing gear.

    4. everyplace you are going to go.

    Haven’t had any similar issues on IDO.

    I am a little freaked out though that I came to my home computer tonight and when the msn home page came up, the last 4 searches I did at work on my work computer came up as ‘recent searches’ on my home computer. The 2 machines are tied together in no way/shape/form. I know that I didn’t look at them on this computer either as the last one was a site to a place I’m gong to do a survey next week that I didn’t even know about until this afternoon.

    Wierd.
