I have never ice fished this early in my life but it was nice to wet a line and bring a few topside today. Warming temps and wind will most likely make this round one and done but we are getting close.

That’s the kind of ice you don’t want much company on.I beat my record(11/17/2014)the other day.I did get out last weekend and fish through the ice,but I was standing on docks(cheating). If you seen a guy out there sitting on a crate inside an Otter sled, that was me.Being inside the sled takes the pressure off the ice,you won’t have a puddle around the hole by just standing on it.

Looking at your last pic. No thanks. And the first two pics don’t convince me it’s worth the risk. Everyone has their own idea of what’s risky and what isn’t so carry on and good luck.

I expect at least 6 inches this weekend where I found 4 last weekend. Hoping to break my record at least 3 times over.

Had a 3 inches of solid ice fishing in 4-1/2 to 5 ft of water maybe 20 yards from shore so it wasn’t life threatening in any way. Figured the window was going to close pretty quick with the wind and warming temps coming so it was well worth the “risk”.
