Never been to the area
Trip will consist of my wife and myself and I’m thinking another couple. Not sure on exact dates. Some time in August. Where would be a good place to stay we will have our boats with to fish Michigan? Any dates we should stay away from (big social events)?
Goal of the trip will be to relax, fish Michigan for lake trout,salmon weather permitting and if bad weather have someplace I can drop the boat and explore

There is a lot of fisherman that stay at coho hotel. Maybe 1/4 mile from Kewaunee landing. http://www.cohomotel.com
If you stay at the Coho, stay in the new addition. Might cost a little more but much nicer accommodations. We usually rent a slip for a few days to eliminate launching the boat every day–well worth the money. We are usually there in September, quiet little town. You can look on the website and http://www.kewaunee.org and see a list of activities going on.
We booked at the harbor inn. Just have to call marina across from the motel and see about getting a slip
