I like using a light wire Aberdeen hook when I’m using a plastic, like a ringworm, on my trailer. I usually just slip the plastic over the knot and it holds pretty well. For you guys that use a Dubuque rig extensively, what brand and size hook do you feel is the best? Any other advance tips that you can recommend?

I live about a 1/16 of line on my knot when I cut it. Then I run the plastic up past the eye on the hook and the knot. That little tag end of line acts like a barb to hold your plastic in place. Often, I will even put a drop of super glue on the knot before I run the plastic over it. I use eagle claw size 2 or 4 abeberdeen gold.

I have run both an Aberdeen hook or a 1/16 ounce jib head. I have net seen one favored over the other.
