Shot 11/06/11, on stand while my uncle walked thru a bedding area as the winds had deer bedded down for almost 2 days. Low and behold as the buck tried to double back on my uncle, he stopped about 75 yards from my stand to look behind him. 1 shot dropped in his tracks.
I have been hunting at this deer camp for 24 years and this is the biggest bodied deer and 2nd biggest rack we have shot. We hunt in northern MN so, we don’t have very big racks on our bucks. I look at this buck as a trophy in my book, not because of its antlers but because it was shared with family. Shooting a deer like this is something special, however the memories I will have for the rest of my life about this buck and Deer Camp 2011 will forever be etched in my memory.

November 5th. Bayfield County. 4:30 in the afternoon he marched into horns looking to battle. First deer seen from stand in up there in 59 hours this year. 22″ inside, 6″+ mass averages. Low 170’s as a typical, but the nontypical right side is messed up, not sure how it will score. 226# dressed. Sitka clothing, HECS suit, Mathews Z7, Slick Tricks, and Spott Hogg. Went 50 yards.

11-11-11 at 9:30 this morning. Should have been a 10 pointer but he must be a scrapper because of a broken brow tine and 2 other points chipped off also. Not the biggest boy around, but I’ve struggled this season with this being only my second buck in shooting range. 18 inch spread…shot with my old reliable Mathews MQ1 and the 100 grain Slick Tricks. I gave the Switchback the season off. He was shot while he was cruising a point in Pierce County.

I took last week off to hunt…and ended up having to work every day but Sunday – so much for vacation. Yesterday I got up at 3:30am and made the 1.5 hour drive to my buddies farm and sat for 5 miserable hours unable to move as two mature does and a nubber bedded down 20 yards away. A coyote snuck in and ran right into them, in which case they ran 50 yards and bedded down 30 yards on the other side of me. After another hour, they finally moved on. Cold and stiff,I got down and re-located to another stand for the afternoon. It was a short 20 minute wait when this 9 point offered me a broadside shot at 40 yards. High Country Iron Mace & 100gr Slick Trick Magnum DL’d him and he went maybe 15 feet.

Here are my 2010 and 2011 bucks. First 3 pics are of the 2010 buck.

The 2010 buck I shot at 20 yards while hunting on the ground still-stalking in high winds. The 2011 buck was at 250 yards while sitting on my butt in a stand in a good place, on Tuesday. Perfect day for them to move after the bad weather.

    These are fair chase bucks

If you own a gun you might consider joining NRA.org. The NRA-ILA could use a donation too. They have your back.

I joined this forum to check it out and post a couple of my biggest bucks from this year and last year because things worked out for me to get ’em instead of talking about almost getting em (like in 2006,2008,2009 haha)

The 2010 buck was 161″/159″ official. I don’t know about the 2011 buck. It wasn’t as big though.

    Good luck hunting everyone

    Tom

First time in this new stand that I put up about a month earlier. Later saw several videos of this deer chasing does on the moultrie about 40 yards from the stand. In south Koochaching County, MN. Like it was said earlier-not too many big boys up there from high wolf population. The first nice buck that I have seen in many years of hard hunting. My nicest buck ever. I don’t know how big but it is going on the wall.

Nov. 13th 9:30am. I was sitting a stand inbetween two main bedding areas and this guy came though by himself looking for does.
