Monday I’ll start looking for someone to pour me a 30′ x 40′ floating concrete slab. Anybody have a rough idea what the concrete & labor should run? I understand site prep needs to be factored in also.

    Thank you!

What’s going on the slab? A building?

Not a real building. I have one of those fabric hut things Menards sells. Might add another or a metal frame with tin on it. These will be used for storage although I will run a forklift on it so it will need to be as thick as a garage floor.

That big of a floating slab, are you doing grade beams around the perimeter and through the middle?

just a concrete slab 3.50-4.00 per sq ft. For a floating slag with footing pour in it figure around 5.50 these are La Crosse area prices.

Lotta factors involved, soils being one of them, drainage another.
Would think twice about 4″ slab vs. fork truck even with re-enforcement.
Might need to beef it up to 6″

I’ve used Thompson Construction in Princeton for some commercial work and they are very reasonably priced from my experience. Not sure what they will come in at for a residential slab but Matt, Owner, is a great guy, 763-389-7981.

I would probably go with a 6″ slab with rebar or you can go with a fiber reinforced concrete. I’ve used that for semi jack pads with no issues.
